The Trump International Hotel and Tower, also known
as Trump Tower Chicago and locally as the Trump Tower, is a skyscraper
condo-hotel in downtown Chicago, Illinois. The building, named after
real estate developer Donald Trump, was designed by architect Adrian
Smith of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Bovis Lend Lease built the 98-story
structure, which reached a height of 1,389 feet (423 m) including its
spire, its roof topping out at 1,170 feet (360 m). It is adjacent to
the main branch of the Chicago River, with a view of the entry to Lake
Michigan beyond a series of bridges over the river.

At 1483 feet (452m) tall, the tallest building in the
world at the date of its completion, measured to the highest point.
Each of the twin Petronas Towers is 88 stories plus an additional architectural
point (at 1242 feet), plus a tall spire to 1483 feet. Compare to the
Sears Tower in Chicago which is 110 stories, and the twin World Trade
Center towers in New York, which were each 110 stories. Although these
other skyscrapers were created with higher occupied floors, they are
not considered as tall under the arcane rules used for rating the world's
tallest, according to which architectural spires count towards building
height, but antennas atop a building do not.

Built in 1924 on Chicago's picturesque lakefront, the
old Soldier Field had grown antiquated. The 1,441,000-square-foot Soldier
Field was scheduled for completion in a record 20 months, even though
a typical stadium requires 30 months or more.
Infrastructure work started in July 2001, six months
before the Bears' last game of the season. Early phased work included
the rerouting of sewers, water, power and construction of two major
electric vaults. By the time the Bears played their final game on Jan.
20, 2002, power was rerouted through new underground utilities networked
throughout the 92-acre site, and construction of the new stadium launched
at 12:01 a.m. Jan 21.
